Hertford Counselling — The Next Step
Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship difficulties, abuse, addiction, loneliness or indeed anything else? Can Hertford Counselling & Psychotherapy help?
The next step is for us to talk in a safe and confidential place, about what you might be struggling with in your life, at my private practice near Hertford. Making the decision to seek help to address the problems or concerns you have is an important and sometimes difficult first step. To help with this, please take a look at my What Is Counselling, How Can Counselling Help and FAQ’s pages that I hope will be able to answer many of your questions.
Initial Counselling Session
During this initial session, lasting up to 50 minutes, you will have the opportunity to talk about your reasons for seeking counselling psychotherapy. You may want to change something in your life or understand your thoughts and feelings in more depth.
I will ask some questions about your needs and concerns, listen to your emotional upset, confusion or worries and gain an understanding of what you hope to achieve or resolve. We will discuss if this kind of therapy is suitable for you and the different ways in which we might work together.
If we both agree counselling psychotherapy would be beneficial and you wish to continue, we will arrange to meet for regular weekly sessions, either on an open-ended or time-limited basis. Alternatively, I may refer you to a different or more appropriate support service or you may decide this is not the right choice for you, as therapy does not necessarily suit everyone.
The British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) website provides information on What Happens in Therapy and during the initial session.
